For the first time, French President François Hollande has openly suggested he might not run for re-election in 2017.
Moreover, he found himself once again bogged down by accusations aimed at his team: his top political advisor Aquilino Morelle was forced to resign over an alleged past conflict of interest. This comes a year after the budget minister was sacked for having lied about a secret Swiss bank account. Are we seeing the end of the “exemplary” republic” that Hollande promised?
