Dark Light

booksPoker NightJill Davis’s Girls’ Poker Night is a welcome contribution to the many books that target the group of 30-something women.

Ruby Capote is very picky when it comes to men, although she is already spending a couple of years of her life with Doug, with whom she definitely not want to marry. When she gets a job at her favourite New York Magazine, she falls in love with her editor Michael. But she is too proud to admit. During the poker nights with her female friends she discusses her life in a funny and touching way.
Girls’ Poker Night appeals probably most to 30-something women, but I am quite sure that the life threathened species of male intellectuals will get a laugh or two out of this book. And maybe even a better insight in evolution’s equivalent to Fermat’s last theorem: female emotions.
