Dark Licht

The new film by director Costa-Gravas tells the story of an SS officer who, together with the help of young jesuite Ricardo Fontana (a role by Matthieu Kassovitz), tries to inform Pope Pius XII about the concentration camps and genocide.
The film poster, designed by advertising’s enfant terrible Oliviero Toscani, is causing a stir in France. The Catholic organisation AGRIF demands the poster to be forbidden, on the grounds that it is a ‘cheap and unnecessary offense to religious feelings’. Something similar could be said of the Roman Catholic Church’s behaviour during World War II.
Luckily a Paris judge decided today that was no problem at all, and allowed the poster to be distributed widely.
