France is the 10th most expensive country in the world, according to the International Comparison Program study (ICP), published this week by the World Bank.

In the ranking, where the global average is 100, France scores 151.4. Only two months ago, Paris came the second as the most expensive in the world, in a survey by The Economist. The majority of the top 10 countries are in Europe. Germany (139.6) and the United Kingdom (129), however, are relatively cheap. In the European Union, Bulgaria is the low cost champion with an index of 60.5.

Switzerland, on the other hand, can boast being the most expensive country in the world (209.6) . This wealth is relative: in a few weeks, the Swiss Confederation holds a referendum on the introduction of a minimum wage of 4,000 Swiss francs per month or € 3,270 (more than 2 times the French minimum wage) .

Real penny-pincers should settle on the banks of the Nile. With an index of 35.1, Egypt is currently the cheapest country in the world.
