Since 1981, the French population has grown with ten million souls. The country now has a population of 65 million. The growth is larger than most of the neighbouring countries. In the same period, Germany for instance saw a growth of 3 million, Italy of 4 million and the UK of 6 million. The difference can be partially explained by France’s higher birth rate and in increase in life expectancy.
