It is also a road movie about male friendship. But above all, it is a beautiful film that tells a very simple story in a majestic way. Paul Newman is impressive in his minimalistic role as a tormented old mafia boss, and Tom Hanks for a change is not the good guy. Which means that Hanks is finally a kind of digestable.<br \/>\nFor this film Sam Mendes worked with much the same people as when he made his beautiful debute American Beauty in 1999: The wonderful photography is by Conrad L. Hall, and the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B000068D1A\/thecoolguide\"><span class=\"link_small\">soundtrack<\/span><\/a> is composed by Thomas Newman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"USA 2002 (116&#8242;)- Dir.: Sam Mendes.
