He could be described as an antropological landscape photographer. Huge photographs showing meticously details of today&#8217;s manmade mass society. The huge prints show many details.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5439\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5439\" style=\"width: 80px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/devries.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2002\/02\/AvenueAmericas2-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5439 size-thumbnail\" title=\"AvenueAmericas\" src=\"http:\/\/devries.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2002\/02\/AvenueAmericas2-1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"80\" height=\"80\" srcset=\"https:\/\/devries.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2002\/02\/AvenueAmericas2-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/devries.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2002\/02\/AvenueAmericas2-1-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 80px) 100vw, 80px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5439\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Avenue of the Americas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And depict Man as ants. Gursky is an observer, but an observer with an extra-ordinary wide-angle. Stock exchanges, pop concerts, or airports, Gursky&#8217;s &#8216;landscapes&#8217; reflect today&#8217;s modern world. Although there are probably few artists that are so focused on the &#8216;real&#8217; world, Gursky&#8217;s images seem as unreal as a Peter Jackson movie.<\/p>\n<p>Another contradiction in his work is the fact that, as a result of the huge prints and extreme sharpness, individuals on the photos are easily recognisable. But it is not the individual that matters, it is the system that fascinates Gursky.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition in the Centre Pompidou follows Gursky&#8217;s career form the eighties till today.
