<\/a>Zara has a wide choice of children\u2019s clothing. Their designs are usually very wearable and a perfect reflection of the Zeitgeist<\/em>. Yet when I stumbled upon a T-shirt in\u00a0their online store<\/a>\u00a0(no longer available, screen capture here<\/a>), I raised an eyebrow. The T-shirt (for boys from 3 months to 3 years) has a star print on it with the hardly readable text ‘Sheriff’. Many\u00a0Sheriff’s badges\u00a0are five pointed, so why choose six points? The one on the T-shirt\u00a0looks more like the yellow Star of David European jews had to wear during\u00a0World War 2. To top it off, the stripes of the shirt remind us of the uniforms\u00a0prisoners in concentration camps had to wear. The association is so obvious that it is hard to imagine that Zara\u2019s designers and product managers didn’t notice when they approved this model. Or did they hire John Galliano<\/a> as head designer?<\/p>\nI contacted Zara’s head office in La Coru\u00f1a this morning and received\u00a0the following statement:<\/p>\n
The mentioned T-shirt is no longer on sale in our stores. The design of the T-shirt was only inspired by the sheriff\u2019s stars from the Classic Western films, as the claim of the t-shirt says.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
